DockItt Privacy Policy
DockItt is an app for building and keeping track of bucket lists. It is made by Millerix (Amy Miller) ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information DockItt collects, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the DockItt iPhone app.
The short version
- We collect only what DockItt needs to work: your email address and password, and the lists, items, notes, dates and photos you add.
- Your lists and diary are private to your account. We don't sell your information or use it for advertising.
- DockItt doesn't currently use analytics, tracking or ads.
- You can delete your account and everything in it at any time from Settings → Delete account.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your email address and a password. Your password is stored in a scrambled (hashed) form, so we can't read it.
- Your content: the lists, sub-lists and items you create, any notes, the dates and times you plan things for, whether you've completed them, and diary entries.
- Photos: if you add a photo to a diary entry or set a profile picture, DockItt asks for permission to use your photo library or camera. We only upload the specific photos you choose. We never access the rest of your library.
- App settings: preferences such as light or dark mode and the name you give your lists page, saved to your account so they follow you between devices.
- Messages to us: if you email us, we keep the message and your email address so we can reply.
Information collected automatically
To keep you signed in securely, our hosting provider records basic technical information when the app connects to it, such as your IP address, the time of the request and sign-in events. This is used only to run and protect the service.
DockItt does not currently collect analytics, usage tracking, advertising identifiers or location. The app doesn't use cookies, and because we don't track you, there is nothing for a browser's "Do Not Track" signal to switch off.
We don't collect information about you from other sources.
Analytics in the future
We may add analytics or crash reporting later to understand how DockItt is used and to fix problems. If we do, we will update this policy before the change takes effect, name the provider we use, and, where the law requires it (for example in the UK and EU), ask for your consent first. We will not use analytics to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
2. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To store your lists, items, plans and diary, and show them to you on your devices.
- To keep the service secure and prevent misuse.
- To send you service emails you need, such as confirming your email address or resetting your password. We don't send marketing emails.
- To reply when you contact us.
- To meet legal obligations.
We don't sell your personal information, share it for advertising, or use it to build profiles about you. We don't make decisions about you based solely on automated processing.
3. Legal bases (UK and EU users)
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, we rely on these legal bases under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR:
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Providing your account and storing your content | Performance of a contract (our agreement to provide DockItt to you) |
| Keeping the service secure and preventing misuse | Legitimate interests |
| Replying to your messages | Legitimate interests |
| Optional analytics, if added in future | Consent, where required |
| Complying with the law | Legal obligation |
For UK and EU data protection law, Millerix (Amy Miller) is the "controller" of your personal information.
4. Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers that help us run DockItt, and only as needed to do so:
- Supabase: hosts our database, sign-in system and photo storage. Supabase processes your information on our behalf under a data processing agreement.
- Apple: distributes the app through the App Store and TestFlight. Apple's handling of your information is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of DockItt, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information.
DockItt and this policy may link to other websites, such as Apple's. We aren't responsible for how those sites handle your information, so please read their privacy policies.
5. Where your information is stored
Your information is stored on servers operated by Supabase, which may be located outside the country you live in. Where information is transferred out of the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
6. How long we keep it
- We keep your account and content for as long as your account exists.
- When you delete your account in the app, your account, lists, items, diary entries, photos and profile picture are deleted from our live systems straight away. Copies in our hosting provider's backups may remain for a short period until those backups expire.
- Emails you send us are kept for as long as needed to deal with your request.
7. How we protect it
Information is encrypted in transit between the app and our servers. Access to your content is restricted to your own account by database security rules, so other users cannot see your lists, items or diary. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
8. Your rights and choices
- Delete your account: go to Settings → Delete account in the app, or email us.
- Change your details: you can edit your content at any time, and change your password in Settings.
- Access or a copy of your information: email us and we'll provide it.
UK, EEA and Switzerland
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your information, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent. You can complain to your data protection authority: in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office; in the EU, the supervisory authority in your country; in Switzerland, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner. We'd appreciate the chance to help first, so please contact us.
United States
Depending on the state you live in (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas or Virginia), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to access, correct or delete it, to get a copy, and to opt out of its sale, of targeted advertising and of profiling. In the past 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information:
- Identifiers: email address, account ID and IP address.
- Content you create: lists, items, notes, plans, diary entries, photos and your profile picture.
We have not sold personal information, shared it for cross-context behavioural advertising, or used it for profiling, so there is nothing to opt out of. We won't treat you differently for exercising your rights. You can use an authorised agent to make a request for you, and if we decline a request you can appeal by replying to our response. We honour these requests from all users, wherever they live.
Making a request
Email us from the address linked to your DockItt account so we can confirm it's you. We'll respond within one month, or sooner where the law requires.
9. Children
DockItt is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you're in a country where a higher minimum age applies to using online services without a parent's permission, you must meet that age. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the changes are significant, such as adding analytics, we'll let you know in the app before they take effect.
